What is Mac Spoofing and how to use it?

Most, if not all networked devices have a factory-assigned Media Access Control (MAC) address that serves as a unique identifier. Since this address is hardcoded, it cannot be changed at the hardware level.

However, The MAC address can be faked at the software level, thus protecting your device's actual address from being exposed to public and/or adversarial networks. This is what is known as MAC Spoofing.

The desktop versions of Winscribe allow you to take advantage of this method with a simple toggle. You can find the MAC Spoofing setting in Preferences > Connection, as illustrated in the screenshot below.
